No escorts, no carriers, no drones, just one matte black vessel, drifting out of FTL with absolute silence. No diplomacy, no trade, no alliances. No signals, no distress call, no data. One single craft, old design, no escort, cutting straight through hyperspace toward Dominion space. No debris, no radiation, no trace.

Wide golden eyes followed Barris closely as he set aside his cleaning supplies and crouched beside it. His supervisor, a centurion with the empathy of a faulty waste unit, would have find him instantly if he caught Barris helping what the station rules classified as a pest. His wife, Inia, had prepared his favorite meal that day, her grandmother's recipe for Biryani. The dragon gave a soft chirp, almost musical, and nudged against his hand before darting into a nearby ventilation grate, energized once again. Barris straightened up his stomach growling, but his heart lighter than it had been in weeks.

He demonstrated a short sequence of moves, switching between using the mop for distance and the broken handle for close work.

Fear was not something he often felt, yet sitting across from the human representative he couldn't stop the faint rattle of his scales. No, Ambassador, I'm informing you, as of this moment, Earth has officially recognized the telary as a protected species under the Sentinel accord. The temperature in the room hadn't changed but Vretar felt as though ice was flowing through his veins. Vretar stared at that small unarmed woman the one who had just threatened his empire without raising her voice.
