Zethar was assigned to review section 7 of the Galactic Maps, updating some outdated coordinates, but while scanning through the master files, something strange cut their eye. Puzzled, Zethar went to ask their supervisor Velmos, an elderly Koran who had worked in cartography for over 60 years. It was created, Sothrel said, to make sure certain mistakes are never repeated, to make sure no one ever threatens humanity again. Not one Kesh'tar remained, not on the home world, not in the colonies, not aboard a single ship. No one talked about the humans because the truth was too terrifying to say aloud, but Zethar couldn't stop there.

Commander Vexar Cororan of the Galactic Hegemony stood tall on the bridge of the Imperial flagship eternal dominance. His four eyes stayed locked on the massive view screen, while his scaled fingers tapped to steady rhythm against the polished black stone of his command console. Cororan's voice carried across the galaxy. There we are receiving urgent communications from across multiple systems, including three from the Imperial Palace itself. Facing the galaxy, Zafarra declared, this execution violates the sentient rights accord of the 7000-23rd Imperial Year, specifically in regard to non-integrated prisoners.

There's nothing typical about human settlements, Trazac's. With respect, Commander, I said carefully, trying to study my voice, understanding their environmental choices is key to predicting their behavior. Six hours later, I was aboard a stealth shuttle heading toward the Centauri, colony with Captain Drell and five elite recon soldiers. I tried to imitate their stealth, but every snapped twig made me cringe under Drell's sharp looks. I don't know, I admitted, but humans don't prioritize science structures early, unless they found something valuable or dangerous.
